After college, Hendrickson worked at several larger companies like Alabama Power and Georgia Pacific. In 1992, Hendrickson founded and operated his first paper manufacturing business. He went on to found and operate two more paper manufacturing businesses after that. In 2002, Hendrickson began Dixie Recycling, the predecessor to Dixie Equipment. Rickey Gaines, who received his B.S. in Agriculture from Prairie View A&M University, serves as Director of Operations. As the Director of Operations, Gaines conducts all project management on the Dixie Companies' demolition and deconstruction projects. Prior to joining Dixie, Gaines was with Alcoa, Inc. for 21 years. His role included project management, regulatory oversight, permitting and energy project coordination. Gaines' experience also includes environmental, health, and safety compliance oversight, which Gaines conducted for Dixie and Alcoa, Inc. as well as Texas Railroad Commission and USDA Soil Conservation Service. Gaines, a native Texan, currently resides in Rockdale, Texas where he is actively involved in the community.

Community Involvement

Dixie strives to integrate into each community in which it works. Dixie realizes that its work is not performed in a vacuum: it affects the people that live in that area. It benefits everyone if the community is constantly engaged in the project process and if Dixie, in turn, becomes involved with that community. Citing his support of local organizations and Dixie's efforts in hiring local laborers, the Rockdale Reporter recently named Hendrickson the “local hero of the week.” (read). A recent editorial also reflected this sentiment. (read)
