Alcoa Power Plant Project in Rockdale, Texas

Dixie recently completed the abatement, dismantle, and removal of three 120MW lignite-fired power generation units at Alcoa's Rockdale, Texas smelting facility. All units were removed down to grade. One of the units was carefully disassembled for relocation and future use. Plant relocations are extremely complicated. The relocation of this unit is a testament to Dixie's expertise in the industry.

This project was particularly complex given its proximity to the operating Alcoa smelting operations and the remaining operating power generation units owned by TXU and Luminant. Additionally, another company was in the process of constructing a generation unit in close proximity to the site. Despite the complex nature of this project, Dixie completed this project timely and with no reported safety incidents.
